What would it be like to take some time off?
Some serious time off.
I am not talking a few days or a long weekend, or even a week or two weeks… I’m talking about a month.
What would it be like to take a month off?
How would that affect your life, and how could that change your life?
In this episode I will be talking to someone right after they take that month off.

- It’s amazing, it’s everything you think 4 weeks off for a full time serial entrepreneur should and would be. There’s some great lesson that I’m learning with the integration of taking that steel mind that I cultivate it over 4 weeks of steeliness both at home and in connections with friends. Those low times for go times, that compounding time that is so exponential of having time where my brain is unloaded, my stresses unloaded, and my body is unloaded. Then allowing me to have the freedom to think about anything and then to allowed some of the things.
- I would say it was as expected because so much of my life is both flexion, both understanding the points and the pieces that need to be reflected about and to work on those pieces. I took a lot of lessons just about taking time off as I took time off. The big one was, don’t jump into a visiting friend in doing anything right away, but take time to be steel.
- I think there are folks to edit audio or edit video or doing any sort of editing. This is apparent, when you bring in music, bringing in a new clip. You don’t have the audio at full blast. There’s a lot of shock to the system, you don’t have an over exposed clip, right beside and under exposed clip unless you making a point. A point of it is to have a contrast. The time is essential to realize that life isn’t a bunch of contrasting moment side by side. It’s about blending them together, it’s about weaving them together, and it’s about gently giving you time to move out this state of being into that state being. Life is 100% negotiable, you don’t design your life and somebody else designs it for you. Even the way that you come home, even the way that you come off the field and speak with the farmer and even the way you bring yourself from the field to the house can exponentially change the way you interact with whoever is next. It’s kind of interesting if you’re changing as night and day then you end up with this stress out person. One of these things is realizing that we are not robot, even though we do have lines of programming, we do have some interesting similarities with robots and programming all the rest of it. We are animals and animals like gradual changes. Sometimes those big moments of contrast can help depending on the situation.
- Decompression has to happen and that is given, not negotiable. Another non negotiable in your daily affair is that you’re going to something quite intense or involve and work. When you leave that, there’s going to be decompression and you either visit that on the people you around or you take that on yourself. What you turn selfish, I turn responsible. That’s the responsible way to deal with transition to manage my time. A lot of people prescribe what meditation is and meditation being having a mindful moment, having no minder, big mind tradition of seating being quiet and not just moving. What we do as people is we have low times and we have go times and if we hold on to stress continuously, if we hold on to problem continuously there is a detrimental fatiguing element to the entire bodily system.
- The first one to start is your conversation about so many people think that this is selfish and it outside of normality within society. It has no major felt to be well adjusted in the sec society and we are in inherently sec society. That is focused up on status about meritocracy, not about the person how you feel, how your experiences with you family, how your experiences with the land. I think the land of promise that we come up on is because we’ve lost a lot of the taboos within traditional society and tribes that was built around. When you take a look to that word “selfish” if you go back to the entomology of it, it was about being full, about having a full self, about having what you needed and go what you needed to do. I think it’s a marathon of sprints and we are to step within that sprint is important as when. Then we run these races because we think this race is supposed to run, most people don’t ask, are this race worth running? Is this the crop worth planting? Is this the conversation worth having?
- I was 25% of my clients come to me for life design have this issue, that just the first step. With all those client just the same for anybody else who feels likewise is to rate now, take a look at the counter in the next week and where is two hour block more of you can take it. Those 2 hours is absolutely a 100% priority and then during that time as you’re planning, what’s that thing that allows you to relax without having input into the brain. In those 2 hours, to really ask a few questions; what is actively working for me in my life right now? What are the three things right now that are really aren’t working? What is the one thing that if I change a little bit, it will help everything else? The only way to build this type of work is to build the competency in and the only way to do that is to take time and say it matters. We are going to take this idea of scheduling of oneself, be it on a daily basis or a weekly basis. Take that concept and take it to the macro because this is a life for me right now.
- A task will take the amount of time that’s given to complete the task where take the amount of space given to pack for a trip and will always feel it to the edge. The next piece in the conversation is where are all the time I can spend this time? Where are all the cracks currently in my incredibly busy schedule where I absolutely no time? What we are building is a competency not confidence of finding those times. Where finding those moment where we do have that alone time and asking our self of how can this be the best time for me? How can this be the most relaxing? How can this be the most contemplative? And how can this are allowing me to take the recharge time I needed? In the moment of going, the calendar in of itself is mechanism to create scarcity in time, to create individuals that constantly looking for to a Saturday but not looking for into the future. It’s a fence to keep people domesticated.
- What you can see is what you’re thinking about, if you’re not seeing the other months the future is not in mind. If you start analyzing what do you like what do you dislike there’s a lot of mental trickery that your brain has going to pull on you. You’re going to think about of the things foremost in your mind and your never be going to forget stuff that would be otherwise should be on the list.
- It’s very keen to a couple of exercises; two or three steps back is where I am today? Same thing sheet of paper, journal entry write it all out. It’s nice to work at the macro and down to the micro, as permaculture talks about from patterns to details and the reason for that is the pattern informs the details, how your thinking about life tense to be about how you can act on a logistical sequencing process. Take a look an entire weekly schedule and outline from the week before during audit. Then you start to get a sense of what are all the pieces that you do in different colors for different aspects. Highlight what is you really enjoy, what were the things that I loved to do. Then you ask a million dollar question one of these that I love to do can I expand and what are the things that I don’t love to do, can I minimize? When you do that you start to get a sense of an audit, auditing your life of what’s going on. Those audits give you the basis to the budget. The difference between the two, an audit is taken look what it is, a budget is saying what you want it to be. Then life is in between the two. As you keep this process for a couple of weeks a couple of months were you find slowly refined. Just observed your spending habits. The mere activity of observation will change your behaviour because you observed things that you’re not happy with. You consciously, subconsciously change that behaviour.
- In June of 2017, I had 37 active projects that were live. Either on the house or work and the rest of it and I started an auditing process that’s why I be very acutely at work side. The eyes were a bit bigger than your stomach so as big. I really got a good place, August 6 I only had a few clients on everybody else been delivered I felt great. Then I listen to one of the most amazing interviews and one of my favourite people in the world whom I had really invested and a lot of benefit from. This is Todd McFarlane. As an entrepreneur you have to know how many balls you can juggle and even jugglers know this. They know that when it comes to balls they can juggle 10, when it comes to chairs they can juggle 3, when it comes to chainsaws they can juggle 4. They need to know when they change what they are juggling how many balls they can juggle. Then they need to be able to have a process something new comes in to evaluate that more important than this and then set that ball down is in sequence that is being juggled and then pick up the new thing.
- We are speaking to people who might want to help them most. We are speaking to folks who have the sense the world is in a state they want to help, they understand the value of productive ecological systems and working with the land that has value. Setting those matrixes is important because it’s lets us know we are going in the right direction or were not going in the right direction. The idea of how do we have is really important and how much can we facilitate the things that parents needs to understand. I see it as the kids growing up; the way that we interact with our children now has a profound effect year down the road. When you start to do as a multiple juggler, when it comes to your kids, all of the sudden you raise the quality of the interaction with the child.
- When you’re active in meditation, you realize one of the most important lessons in life that nothing is worth the mental balance of your mind. One new thing at one time is what you want to be focused upon because that allows you to give full effort to it and also see result.
- The piece about that is when you remove and subtract. There is the only true evidence based conversation of; did I truly miss up? When it there, you don’t have the evidence based. This is about the conversation of creating evidence to experiential moments. Not all I thought about it or rationalize it but getting that heady intellectual focused space of doing the Marie Condo prune of removing everything out the of house doesn’t bring you’re joy and taking it either one or two steps which is begging and putting at way and then waiting for 3 weeks or 3 months. The things you do miss really start to tell you about who you are the manual of me, the manual of you and what’s important to you. What are things that are actively important and especially when you’re changing the daily schedule the weekly schedule or time with family and time with friends, that’s will give us another conversation.
- Removable gives you the chance to feel lost. It’s the absence makes the heart grow fonder and I can still think the two things but I got rid it which still I had. After a lifetime of getting rid of close in books and personal effects and I still go back. It was under the rest but, I was in that certain chronic suicidal depression and I used making bad decisions left in the center.
- Consider selfish with the entomology of the work of being soulful. How am I going to feel up and be ready to anything? As soon as you turn that dial and put that switch it’s about me having enough. It’s about me being enough so I can be ready for others. Now this time you have mental escape and the permission to say great. Where are the fences that I can put off for me? Start small and build up on consistency and consistency trump intensity every day of the week. Ask yourself two major questions; what is the matrix that would show that this is a benefit of my life? What is the matrix that would show me isn’t not working?
